So, I stumbled upon this “amazing” diet plan, and as a funny person, I just had to share it with all of you
The “REAL” Mayo Clinic Diet
Now, I don’t know what the “fake” Mayo Clinic Diet is, but apparently, it’s not as “real” as this one. So, what does the “real” Mayo Clinic Diet entail, you may ask? Well, let me tell you:
- Eat grapefruit for breakfast.
- Eat a limited amount of protein.
- Eat as much salad as you want.
That’s it. That’s the whole diet. Sounds pretty revolutionary, doesn’t it?
Day 1
So, I decided to give this “real” Mayo Clinic Diet a try, because why not? I mean, who doesn’t want to eat grapefruit for breakfast every day? So, on day 1, I woke up bright and early, and peeled myself a nice juicy grapefruit. I’m not going to lie, it wasn’t the most exciting breakfast I’ve ever had, but it definitely woke me up.
Day 2
Okay, so day 2 was a little rough. I felt like I was starving all day, and I kept having to remind myself that I could only eat a limited amount of protein. I mean, who wants to limit their protein intake? But, I soldiered on, and snacked on veggies and hummus throughout the day to curb my hunger.
Day 3
By day 3, I was really starting to feel the effects of the “real” Mayo Clinic Diet. I was tired, hungry, and my mood was pretty much in the dumps. But, I didn’t want to give up just yet. I mean, maybe this was just the “detox” phase, right?
Day 4
Okay, so by day 4, I was ready to throw in the towel. I mean, why was I doing this to myself? I’m a funny person, I should be able to eat whatever I want, right? But, then I remembered that I had committed to at least 7 days of this “real” Mayo Clinic Diet, and I didn’t want to give up that easily.
Day 5
On day 5, I woke up feeling a little more motivated. I mean, I had made it through 4 days already, so what was one more day? I started my day with my usual grapefruit breakfast, and decided to mix things up a little by adding some yogurt and granola. I mean, technically, yogurt is a limited protein, right?
Day 6
Day 6 was a good day. I mean, I’m not saying that I was loving the “real” Mayo Clinic Diet or anything, but I was starting to feel a little better. I had a pretty big salad for lunch (because let’s face it, if you’re going to eat anything all day, it might as well be a salad), and snacked on some almonds throughout the day.
Day 7
Finally, day 7 had arrived. I had made it through a whole week of the “real” Mayo Clinic Diet, and I was ready to celebrate. I mean, I wasn’t going to celebrate with food or anything (because let’s face it, there’s really not much to celebrate about eating grapefruit for a week), but I was definitely proud of myself for sticking with it.
Final Thoughts
So, was the “real” Mayo Clinic Diet worth it? Eh, I’m not so sure. I mean, sure, I lost a little bit of weight (which is always a bonus), but I also felt pretty crappy for most of the week. And, to be honest, I missed pizza and ice cream.
But, hey, maybe the “real” Mayo Clinic Diet works for some people. Maybe there are some people out there who actually enjoy eating grapefruit for breakfast every day. And, if that’s you, well, more power to you. But, for me, I think I’ll stick with my usual diet of pizza, ice cream, and lots of veggies.
