Before they were invented, traffic was a mess. Cars would honk at each other, pedestrians would try to run across the street, and there was just general chaos. Garrett Morgan’s invention helped create order and reduce traffic accidents. What a hero!

He Breathed Life Into Gas Masks

During World War I, Garrett saw that many people were dying from inhaling toxic fumes. So, he came up with the idea of a gas mask that would filter the air and protect people’s lungs. His invention later saved many lives during fires and other disasters.

He Defied The Odds and Became Successful

He started off as a messenger boy and worked his way up to becoming a sewing machine mechanic. From there, he went on to invent many things that changed the world. Talk about determination and grit!

He Was a Pioneer For Civil Rights

He was one of the few African American inventors of his time and he faced a lot of racism and discrimination. However, he never let that stop him. He was an advocate for civil rights and worked hard to break down barriers.

So, Why Is Garrett Morgan Awesome?
