Fruits of the spirit are a representation of the nature we have as followers of Jesus Christ. It is a way of growing and being fruitful in our faith by living and showcasing the nine fruits of the spirit which are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These fruits are essential to our daily walk with Christ and are a reflection of our character and identity in Him.

Fruit of Love

Fruits of the spirit craftThe first fruit of the spirit is love. Love is the foundation on which all the other fruits are built, and it is the essence of who God is. Jesus tells us in John 13:34-35, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this, all people will know that you are my disciples if you have love for one another.”

Fruit of Joy

Fruits of the spirit craftThe second fruit of the spirit is joy. Joy is not the same as happiness. It is a deep and abiding sense of contentment that comes from knowing and being known by God. As believers, we can find joy in all circumstances because we are secure in our salvation and know that our ultimate hope is in Christ. Psalm 16:11 says, “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence, there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

Fruit of Peace

Fruits of the spirit craftThe third fruit of the spirit is peace. Peace is a state of calm and tranquility that comes from having a right relationship with God. It is also about having peace with others and seeking to live in harmony with those around us. Philippians 4:6-7 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Fruit of Patience

Fruits of the spirit craftThe fourth fruit of the spirit is patience. Patience is the ability to endure and persevere through difficult circumstances without losing hope. It is also about being patient with others and understanding that everyone is on their own journey. James 1:2-4 says, “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”

Fruit of Kindness

Fruits of the spirit craftThe fifth fruit of the spirit is kindness. Kindness is about showing love and care to others in practical ways. It is also about being gentle and not using our words or actions to hurt others. Ephesians 4:32 says, “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”

Fruit of Goodness

Fruits of the spirit craftThe sixth fruit of the spirit is goodness. Goodness is about doing what is right and just, even when it is difficult. It is also about being honest and having integrity in all aspects of life. Galatians 6:9-10 says, “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.”

Fruit of Faithfulness

Fruits of the spirit craftThe seventh fruit of the spirit is faithfulness. Faithfulness is about being consistent and reliable in all aspects of life. It is also about being faithful to God and His Word. Matthew 25:21 says, “His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.”

Fruit of Gentleness

Fruits of the spirit craftThe eighth fruit of the spirit is gentleness. Gentleness is about being considerate and compassionate towards others. It is also about being humble and not thinking of ourselves as better than others. Philippians 2:3 says, “Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.”

Fruit of Self-Control

Fruits of the spirit craftThe ninth and final fruit of the spirit is self-control. Self-control is about having the ability to control our thoughts, emotions, and actions. It is also about being disciplined and not giving in to temptation or sin. 2 Timothy 1:7 says, “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”

As we seek to grow in our faith and become more like Christ, the fruits of the spirit should become more evident in our lives. They are not something we can produce on our own but are a result of the Holy Spirit’s work in us. When we surrender to the Holy Spirit and allow Him to work in us, we can bear much fruit and bring glory to God.
