We all know that family ties run deep in the Black community. It’s one of the things that makes us so strong and resilient. And let’s be real, we can probably all use a refresher on who’s who in our family tree every now and then. That’s why I was so excited to come across this colorful family relationship chart that helps answer the age-old question, “How are we related again?”
Grandparents
Starting from the top, we have our grandparents. On our mother’s side, we have our maternal grandmother and grandfather. On our father’s side, we have our paternal grandmother and grandfather. It’s important to remember that they’re all equally important and deserving of our love and respect.
Parents

Finally, we have our cousins. They’re our first friends and some of the most fun people to be around. We may not see them as much as we’d like, but whenever we do, it’s like no time has passed at all. And even though we may fight and argue from time to time, we know deep down that our family bond is stronger than any disagreement.
