Ah, bocce ball. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of tossing that little ball and watching it land perfectly in the target zone. At Chamisal Tennis & Fitness Club, we take our bocce ball game seriously. That’s why we’re excited to share the rules with you, so you can join in on the fun!
Bocce Ball Rules
Before we get started, it’s important to note that bocce ball can be played with 2 to 8 players at a time. The game is played in rounds, with each team taking turns rolling their balls towards the target.
First, a player from the team that goes first throws the smaller ball, which is called the “pallino” or “jack.” The goal is to get the pallino as close to the center of the playing field as possible. Once the pallino is in place, the same player rolls one of their larger balls towards it, trying to get as close to the pallino as possible. Then, the opposing team takes their turn doing the same thing.
After all balls have been thrown, the scoring begins. Only the team with the closest ball to the pallino earns points (one point per ball). Points are tallied at the end of each round, and the team with the most points at the end of the game wins.
