Hey y’all, it’s your girl here with some important post-op instructions for when you get your teeth extracted! We got some helpful pictures to show you what to expect, so let’s get started. First up, we got a printable sheet of instructions in English and in Spanish. Make sure you read those carefully before your surgery so you know what to do when you get home. We also got another printable sheet with more detailed instructions in case you need it. Next, we got a picture of what your mouth might look like after the extraction. Don’t worry if it looks a little weird, it’s normal for your gums to be swollen and red. Just make sure you clean your mouth and follow the instructions your dentist gave you. Speaking of cleaning your mouth, we got a picture of a post-op cleaning kit to help you out. You should use the mouthwash and brush your teeth gently to make sure the area around the extraction stays clean. Remember not to spit or rinse your mouth too hard, and avoid smoking or using straws for a few days. We also got a picture of some gauze pads you can use to stop any bleeding after the extraction. Make sure you replace them every half hour or so until the bleeding stops. If you’re still bleeding after a few hours or if you have any other concerns, call your dentist. Finally, we got a picture of some soft foods you should eat for the first few days after the extraction. Stick to things like yogurt, soup, and mashed potatoes to avoid irritating your gums. You can gradually introduce harder foods after a week or so, but make sure you chew carefully and avoid anything too crunchy or sticky. And there you have it, folks! Remember to take it easy and follow the instructions carefully for a speedy recovery.
