Hey y’all,
Have y’all ever tried to study geography or just wanted to know where certain states or countries were without having to pull up a whole Google Map? Well, I found this dope resource that has a blank map of North America!
Check out this Blank Map:
It’s perfect to use for labeling states or quizzing yourself on where certain countries are located. Plus, it’s just really aesthetically pleasing to look at.
I feel like a lot of times, Black people aren’t taught proper geography in school. And even when we are, we’re not taught the full extent of it. So, it’s nice to have resources like this that we can use to educate ourselves and our children.
Why Geography Matters:
I know some of y’all might be thinking, “Why does geography even matter?” But let me tell you, it matters! Understanding geography can help us better understand the world we live in, including its cultures, economies, and politics. It can also help us understand how certain events or issues are connected across the globe.
For example, understanding the geography of Africa can give us a better understanding of why certain countries have certain resources and how colonialism played a role in dividing up the continent.
Plus, being able to locate different countries on a map is just a useful skill to have. It can come in handy when traveling, reading the news, or even just playing trivia games.
How to Use the Blank Map:
So now that you have this dope blank map, what can you do with it? Here are a few ideas:
- Label all 50 states of the United States
- Label all the countries in North America
- Quiz yourself on where certain cities are located (e.g. Mexico City, Toronto, New York City)
- Use it as a coloring sheet for your kids (or yourself)
There are so many possibilities! And if you want to take it a step further, you can always research more about the different countries and states you’re labeling.
Final Thoughts:
Overall, I’m just really excited about this blank map of North America. It may seem like a small thing, but having resources like this can make a big impact on our education and understanding of the world around us.
So go ahead and print out this map, put on your favorite Spotify playlist, and get to labeling!
