The 2018 NFL Playoffs are here and fans across the country are gearing up for an exciting postseason. This year’s playoffs feature some of the best teams in the league, with the top seeds battling it out for a chance to play in the Super Bowl.
Wild Card Weekend
The Wild Card Weekend got off to an exciting start, with four games taking place over two days. On Saturday, the Indianapolis Colts faced off against the Houston Texans in a closely contested match-up. The Colts came out on top, winning 21-7, thanks in large part to quarterback Andrew Luck, who threw for 222 yards and two touchdowns.
In the other Wild Card game on Saturday, the Dallas Cowboys took on the Seattle Seahawks. The Cowboys defense was the star of the show, holding the Seahawks to just 22 rushing yards all game. The Cowboys won 24-22, thanks to two touchdown runs from running back Ezekiel Elliott.
Sunday saw two more Wild Card games, with the Los Angeles Chargers taking on the Baltimore Ravens, and the Philadelphia Eagles facing off against the Chicago Bears. The Chargers-Ravens game was a thriller, with the Chargers holding on for a 23-17 win. The Eagles-Bears game was another close one, with the Eagles winning 16-15 after a failed field goal attempt by the Bears in the final seconds.
Divisional Round
The Divisional Round of the playoffs featured four more games, with the top two seeds in each conference making their first appearance. In the AFC, the Kansas City Chiefs hosted the Indianapolis Colts, while the New England Patriots faced off against the Los Angeles Chargers. In the NFC, the New Orleans Saints took on the Philadelphia Eagles, while the Dallas Cowboys traveled to Los Angeles to face the Rams.
The Chiefs-Colts game was a high-scoring affair, with the Colts getting the better of the Chiefs in a 31-13 victory. Andrew Luck was once again the star of the show, throwing for 203 yards and a touchdown. In the other AFC game, the Patriots comfortably defeated the Chargers 41-28, with quarterback Tom Brady throwing for 343 yards and a touchdown.
The Saints-Eagles game was another close one, with the Saints coming out on top 20-14. Quarterback Drew Brees threw for 301 yards and two touchdowns, while the Eagles struggled to get anything going offensively. In the final Divisional Round game, the Rams took down the Cowboys 30-22 thanks to two touchdown runs from running back Todd Gurley.
Conference Championships
The Conference Championships saw four of the best teams in the league facing off for a chance to play in the Super Bowl. In the AFC, the Patriots traveled to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs, while in the NFC, the Saints hosted the Rams.
The Patriots-Chiefs game was one for the ages, with the two teams trading blows all game. In the end, it was the Patriots who came out on top, winning 37-31 in overtime. Tom Brady once again showed why he’s considered one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, throwing for 348 yards and a touchdown.
The Saints-Rams game was another high-scoring affair, with the two teams combining for over 80 points. In the end, it was the Rams who came out on top, winning 26-23 in overtime. Kicker Greg Zuerlein was the hero for the Rams, hitting a 57-yard field goal to win the game.
Super Bowl LIII
The stage is set for Super Bowl LIII, with the New England Patriots set to take on the Los Angeles Rams. This will be the Patriots’ ninth Super Bowl appearance in the last 18 years, while the Rams are appearing in their fourth Super Bowl in franchise history.
The game is set to take place on February 3, 2019, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. It promises to be an exciting match-up, with two of the best teams in the league facing off for the ultimate prize.
