Noah’s Ark: The Story
The story of Noah’s Ark begins with God’s decision to rid the earth of its wickedness by sending a great flood that would destroy everything on the face of the earth. However, God saw one man, Noah, who remained righteous, and so decided to spare him and his family by commanding him to build an ark, a great vessel that would house all the animals of the earth and his family.
Noah, being a righteous man, obeyed God’s command, and he spent 120 years building the ark, preparing it to carry with it every living creature on earth. And so, when Noah was finished, he and his family gathered seven pairs of every kind of bird, animal, and creeping thing to shelter them in the ark.
As the rain began to fall, the ark was lifted up by the rising floodwaters and carried safely atop the tumultuous seas until finally, after 40 days and nights, the waters began to recede, and the ark came to rest upon the mountains of Ararat.
A World of Creatures
On the coloring page, we see the vast variety of creatures that Noah brought aboard the ark, from lions and tigers to cows and pigs to snakes and spiders. It is incredible to think of the number of animals that could fit on the ark, especially when we realize that the ark itself was just over 500 feet long, 85 feet wide, and 50 feet high!
Some animals were undoubtedly easier to take care of than others–can you imagine what it would be like to take care of a whole herd of elephants or hippos? Nonetheless, Noah and his family did take care of all the creatures, providing them with everything they needed to survive until the land dried up again.
One thing that we do not often think about when we consider the story of Noah’s Ark is the teamwork and dedication that Noah and his family displayed in order to complete the task that God had set before them. We can only imagine how difficult the task would have been, especially since it took 120 years to complete! Yet, despite the enormity of the job that they were given, Noah and his family worked together and trusted in God to see them through to the end.
A Story of Faith
Noah’s Ark is a wonderful story of faith in action, demonstrating how one man’s faith can make all the difference in a world that has gone wrong. Noah trusted that God had a plan for him and his family, and he was willing to do whatever it took to fulfill that plan, even when it meant building an enormous vessel to house all the living creatures of the earth.
As we consider this story and the incredible coloring page that depicts it, we are reminded of the power of faith and trust in God’s plan. Like Noah, we too can have faith that God has a plan for our lives, and that if we trust in him and work together with others, we can accomplish great things.
