-Washington Irving
These quotes capture the essence of what we all know to be true: moms are life-givers, present, and nurturing in ways that are undeniably unique. They are the ones who have sacrificed so much to make sure we are taken care of, to ensure that we grow into the beautiful people we’re destined to be.
So this Mother’s Day, let’s make sure we show our moms how much we appreciate and love them. They deserve it.
Mommas on the Front Line
For some moms, this past year has been particularly tough. Many had to juggle the responsibilities of working full-time, homeschooling their kids, and managing a household all in the midst of a worldwide pandemic. But for some, the challenge was even greater.
Nurses, doctors, and other healthcare workers on the front line have been hailed as heroes in the fight against COVID-19. Many of these heroes are moms who, in addition to their vital jobs, have also had to keep their own families safe and healthy.
Their strength and resilience in the face of adversity are nothing short of inspirational.
“I don’t feel like a hero, I’m just a mom,” says Megan Burbage, a registered nurse in New York City. “I feel like every mom right now is a hero because we are all doing our best to make it through this difficult time.”
Meghan Tomlin, an ICU nurse in Chicago, echoes the same sentiment. “I think we kind of just go with the flow of life and do what needs to be done,” she says. “We all have families and homes to take care of, but we also have nursing families and patients we care for. So we’re keeping everyone safe – including ourselves.”
It takes a strong and special kind of love to be able to balance all of these responsibilities and still show up each day with a smile on your face. Moms are truly superheroes in their own right.
