Have you ever needed to measure something but couldn’t find a ruler? Maybe you lost yours or maybe you’re away from home and don’t have one with you. Well, fret no more! You can now download and print your own rulers for free!
These rulers come in a variety of sizes, but the best part is that they’re all 12 inches long, so you don’t have to worry about converting measurements from one ruler to another.
Why Do You Need a Ruler?
You might be thinking, “Why do I need a ruler? I can just estimate the length or width of an object.” While it’s true that we can estimate measurements, sometimes it’s important to have an accurate measurement. For example:
- If you’re baking a cake and the recipe calls for a specific pan size, you want to make sure you have the right size pan so the cake bakes properly.
- If you’re building something, the measurements need to be precise so the pieces fit together correctly.
- If you’re measuring fabric for a sewing project, you want to make sure you have enough material and that the pieces will fit together correctly.
How to Use a Ruler
Using a ruler is simple, but there are a few tips and tricks that can help you get more accurate measurements.
- Place the ruler at the beginning of the object you’re measuring.
- Line up the end of the object with the correct measurement on the ruler.
- Make sure the object is straight and not bent or curved, which can skew the measurement.
- Read the measurement at the end of the object.
- If the measurement falls between two markings on the ruler, estimate the fraction of an inch by looking at the spaces between the markings. For example, if the line falls halfway between the 1/4 inch and 1/2 inch marks, the measurement is 3/8 inch.

While the rulers we’re discussing today are all 12 inches in length, there are many different types of rulers for different purposes. Here are a few examples:
