5 Senses Printable

Hey y’all! Today we’re talking about the five senses and all the fun activities we can do to explore them. You ready? Let’s go!

Seeing is Believing

Activities Using the Five SensesFirst up, we’ve got our sense of sight. One activity you can do is go on a nature walk and look at all the different colors and shapes around you. If you’re feeling artsy, you can even try painting or drawing what you see. Another idea is to play a guessing game. Blindfold one person and have them guess what object they’re touching just by using their sense of sight.

Hear Me Out

You can also play a game where one person makes a sound and everyone else has to guess what it is. Or, you can simply take a moment of silence and try to listen to as many different sounds as you can hear.

Touch of Class

Children touching different texturesOur sense of touch is up next. Get a bunch of different everyday objects with different textures, like a sponge, sandpaper or a cotton ball, and ask your little ones to describe what they feel. You can also play a memory game where you put different objects in a bag and have the kids try and figure out what’s inside just by using their sense of touch.

A Taste of Heaven

Children trying different tastesWho’s hungry? Our sense of taste is next on the list. Go on a taste-testing adventure and try different things like sweet, salty, sour and bitter flavors. You can also blindfold everyone and have them try and guess what they’re eating just by the taste. Or, you can create your own smoothie or pizza and experiment with different flavor combinations.

Smell Ya Later

Children smelling different scentsLast but not least, we’ve got our sense of smell. Take a walk around your neighborhood and try and identify different smells like flowers, trees, and freshly cut grass. You can also collect different scents like cinnamon or vanilla and try and guess what they are. Or, make your own batch of play dough and add different scents like peppermint or lavender.
